My interest in music started at a very early age when I began playing the drums and guitar in grade school. I played music in bands throughout my high-school years and after receiving a Bachelor of Music with a focus on percussion and audio engineering, I moved to Chicago. I started out as an audio engineer at Editel, an audio/video post-production facility, recording, editing and mixing music, dialog and sound fx for television and radio commercials. During my four years at Editel, I focused my energies on becoming a better audio engineer - but I needed to get back to my musical roots...
In 1996 with the help of two other business partners, I opened the Rhythm Café. We composed and produced music for many different television and radio commercials, including some that were produced outside of the United States. It was at the Cafe that I really learned the process of scoring for picture and mixing music for various formats.
While at the Rhythm Cafe, I had the opportunity to produce and engineer several different record projects, including some of my own. I found that I enjoy the challenge of working on a song's lyrics, melody and arrangement, as well as creating interesting textures through various sonic treatments and manipulation. I also like to create different moods through the use of musical sounds and vocals, whether they're created by live musicians, in a computer - or both.
After working at the Rhythm Café for ten years, I was ready to move on. So in 2006, I started Soundcake to continue with my passion for creating and producing music that I love.
