Brando's interest in music started at a very age when began playing the drums and guitar in grade school. After receiving a Bachelor of Music with a focus on percussion and audio engineering, Brando moved to Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago he worked as an audio engineer at Editel, an audio/video post-production facility, recording, editing and mixing music, dialog and sound fx for television and radio commercials. During his four years at Editel, Brando honed his skills as an engineer, but wanted to get back to his musical roots. In 1994 he started a successful music composition department where he composed and produced music for commercials.

After Editel closed its doors in 1996, Brando, along with two other business partners, opened the Rhythm Café. During his time at the Café, Brando composed, recorded and produced music for many different television and radio commercials, including some that were produced outside of the United States.

Along with his work in the advertising industry, Brando has had the opportunity to produce and engineer several different record projects, including his own. He enjoys the challenge of working on a song's lyrics, melodies and arrangement, as well as creating interesting textures through different sonic treatments and manipulation.

After working at the Rhythm Café for ten years, Brando sold his shares and opened Soundcake, where he continues to compose, produce and engineer music.
